What would happen if nonprofits spent less time fundraising with AI and more time focusing on mission acceleration?
Three years ago, this was the early morning through late in the evening conversation topic between the founding team of boodleAI.
In 2016, boodleAI was founded on the idea of bringing AI technology to nonprofits for the purpose of accelerating its focus on mission impact rather than fundraising.
In addition to directly supporting nonprofits, boodleAI was created to help individual fundraisers and profitable companies amplify their support for charity like never before. boodleAI was built to find new donors who will become lifetime donors in perpetuity, thus impacting the organization both tactically and strategically for years to come.
This is exactly what boodleAI does today. boodleAI walks the walk; giving more than tech to the nonprofit community. We do this by donating percentages of our company with a “5 -4 – 3 – 2 – 1” model.
5% Of Profit to Charity Donations
Aligned with our vision, boodleAI donates 5% of all profit to charity donations through a corporate donor-advised fund set up and administered by Tides. Since these annual donations ultimately impact the top line and thus boodleAI’s investors, we had to make sure we brought in investors who had buy-in and shared this ethos. We consider ourselves fortunate to the count amongst our investors more than 25 fellow West Point graduates and more than half of all investors are veterans. Our non-veteran investors are also imbued with a sense of serving something larger than themselves and therefore strongly support these annual donations.
4 boodleAI Dogfooding Days
We cannot expect clients to use boodle if we are not willing to use it ourselves. So, each quarter our entire team spends at least one-hour during the work day, sending emails out on behalf of one client. Each boodleAI team member has a goal of obtaining a 10% donation rate with an average donation of $50.
3% Of Profit In Product Donations Through boodle Grants
boodleAI was intentional about creating a product that was not out of reach for any nonprofit. This is why we donate 3% of profit in product donations through boodleAI grants. If a nonprofit is not able to afford the full license they can apply for a boodleAI grant which will allow them to have boodle donate up to 50% of a first-year license. After one year, we are confident a nonprofit will raise enough money through the boodleAI platform that they will be able to pay for a renewal on their own, allowing us to grant to entirely new organizations the following year.
2% Of Employee Time Each Year to Their Own Charity Of Choice
Each year, we ask all boodleAI team members to give 2% of their time during the workday to make an impact for causes they care about. boodleAI team members can determine how they want to donate that time. If they want to hop on boodleAI and send out emails, they can. If they want to spend a day “in the field” working with program beneficiaries, they can do that as well.
1% Of Founder’s Equity to Charity
The ethos with which boodleAI’s Founding Team founded the organization was one of altruistic desire to do good with AI. This is why our three founders are committed to giving 1% of their equity to charity. boodleAI hopes to make a positive difference in the world every year.
Walking the philanthropic walk of using the power of AI for good matters to boodleAI; it always will.
